DOUGHERTY COUNTY,GA --
Some folks are lecturing the Dougherty County Commission to not back down from the city commission when it comes to local option sales tax renegotiations.

In a recent meeting, the city requested 80% of the LOST funds.

Right now the county receives 40% of the LOST funds that come in, versus the city that receives 70%.

“It roughly rounds out to $7 million a year which is the second biggest source of revenue so it would certainly impact directly the services that the county could provide,” says Dougherty County Administrator Richard Crowdis.

LOST funds, unlike SPLOST funds, go into the general fund which can be used in any area of the budget.
