ALBANY, GA. -- Albany native Matt Hardwick is bringing his highly acclaimed stage play back to Albany where it began, but this time the playwright is bringing something extra.
During a Wednesday press conference, Hardwick announced that the August 2nd performance of "The Measure of a Man" will be the official DVD taping.
He says taping the play here in his hometown was the only way to show gratitude for where he comes from and the people who support him.
"The Measure of a Man” is centered on the lives of four barbers and their struggles in through life.
Hardwick says the play will be a treat for those who've never seen it and a surprise for those viewing it for a second time.
“We're going to pick you up and drop you on your head a couple times and have you going out with the same meaning. The meaning is the same, the gist of the play is the same but we changed some things around to make it entertaining to the folks that saw it last time as well,” said Hardwick.
During the press conference, Hardwick was honored with a plaque from U.S. Congressman Sanford Bishop for his efforts.
Tickets for the play can be purchased at the Albany Civic Center box office or Ticket Master.
