ALBANY,GA --
If you have a computer, you may not be able to access the internet starting Monday, thanks to a virus that's been around since 2008.

The men responsible for creating the virus were arrested last year.

Instead of shutting down the servers used to send out the virus, the FBI kept them going, but reversed the malware being sent out so that infected computers could still operate normally.

Monday, the FBI will be shutting down those servers, so the computers affected will not be able to connect to the internet.

“Every computer has an IP address, which is a unique address and that's how computers communicate with one another. But we as humans us domain names like Amazon.com or Google.com. The DNS system is what provides the matching between the domain name and the IP address and that's what this particular piece of malware was targeting,” says Full Sail University Professor of Computer Networking, J.R. Knight.

To see if your computer is infected, visit DNS-OK.US.

If you are infected, experts say basic anti-virus software can take care of it, such as AVAST, or you can visit CNET.com for additional free antivirus software.
