ALBANY,GA --
Incoming high school juniors got the opportunity to spend a week learning leadership skills, thanks to the Dougherty County Rotary Club.

Unfortunately, none of the students was able to attend Tuesday's Rotary Club meeting.

Each year, the club sponsors three teens to attend a district-wide week-long conference where they attend classes on leadership.

Each candidate must submit an application along with a letter of recommendation to be considered.

“And basically they're learning leadership skills, team building skills, things like that, things they probably wouldn't get in a school type setting. But these are just kind of out of the box things that they learn,” says Rotary President Crisp Gatewood.

Over 100 students from the district attended the conference which took place at Georgia

Southwestern University.
