ALBANY, GA --
The Albany Police Department hosted their first Basic Firearms Course of the year.

The gun safety course is designed to educate participants on the responsibility of owning a firearm.

After spending time in a classroom, everyone was moved outdoors to the police station's shooting range. While at the range, they were taught how to safely fire their weapons, something that is important for everyone that decides to own a gun.

Gun owner Lorrie Peek, found the class very useful. "I really enjoyed taking the class, I feel that everyone should. I believe in the right to bear arms, and I believe if you’re going to bare them you better know how to use them" she said.

The police department tries to host 3 courses a year, but future dates have not yet been set.
