ALBANY, GA -- The PINES program is doubling the amount for overdue Library materials from 10-cents to 20-cents in the coming days.

Dougherty County's Library system has taken the first step in making sure materials are returned on time and without delay.

"Really the increase in fines, there had not been one since pines was introduced in 1999. And this is a way to help the public libraries encourage people to bring back their materials, so others in the community can also have access to them," said library director Ashley Moore.

Officials are hoping that these increases will encourage the public to be more aware of their library materials and when their due dates are expiring.
