ALBANY, GA --
Albany residents will be gearing up for the 4th of July, and are planning on spending it on Albany waterways. However the Department of Natural Resources is warning all boaters to put safety at the top of their lists.

"They need to realize that they're responsible for the wake that's left behind, so speed's not as big an issue, speed is not restricted, but the result of that speed can cause damage," said Department of Natural Resources Captain Jeff Swift.

With multiple viewers questioning the speed limit on Albany waterways, Swift says that there is no restriction on speed, however boaters are responsible for the safety of their boat, other boats, and the people on-board. Use caution and stay safe this 4th of July.
