ALBANY, GA --
The Economic Development Commission met Wednesday morning to vote on the budget and discuss their plans for the upcoming fiscal year.

The Commission put $100,000 in the budget that was passed towards a project that will identify the top candidates to expand or relocate a business in Albany.

"We're going to spend some time and effort and resources to try and determine maybe the top 100 companies in each of these sectors that are good candidates for expansions and relocations and focus our marketing efforts on that," said EDC President Ted Clem.

While the Commission is focusing on attracting new businesses, it understands the importance of established businesses and recognizes them for their efforts.

The Commission also plans to utilize the skill sets learned through the Marine Corps Logistics Base to help marines attract new businesses once the base returns to peacetime settings and cuts back on the number of employees.
