ALBANY, GA --
One man is killed and another is in serious condition after the driver lost control of his car and hit a tree early Monday morning.

49-year-old Alexander Pepkus was driving his '98 Cadillac El Dorado westbound on Hardup Road when he lost control and traveled 156 feet off the road before hitting a tree.

Pepkus was killed on impact and his passenger, 48-year-old Michael Yager, is in serious condition at Phoebe Putney.

Dougherty County Police believe alcohol may have been a factor and are currently investigating the accident further.
