ALBANY, GA --

The Saint James Baptist Church did their part to help the community this morning as they prepared to give away 5000 pounds of food.

People in need could show up at the church and receive bread, can goods, and fresh produce. The church planned this event to let the community know they’re here for them.

Keneth Williams, who helped organize this event says, "We want to branch out and be a light for the community, so we got together and we decided that with the economy with the way it is, we probably have a whole lot of people that may need a helping hand. This is something we decided to do."

The food came from the Albany food bank.
