ALBANY, GA --
The Dougherty County public works office is preparing for a week of rain, and the mosquitoes that it will bring.

"We always advise the public after a rain event to check your area, pour out waters that have collected from the rain, because they become places for mosquitoes," said Assistant Director Chucky Mathis.

And with the forecast showing rain every day this week, residents will want to be vigilant about eliminating that stagnant water from their homes. Mathis says that it takes several weeks for mosquitoes to lay their eggs and multiply, and that if you remain on top of the situation, you won't have too many to worry about.
