Albany Police say gunshots were heard just before 2:00 Thursday morning around Whitehead and Patrol Drives.

Albany police say that 26-year-old Marquez Young reported that he was walking in the 200 block of Whitehead Drive when a blue or black Ford Mustang pulled up.

Young and the driver got into a verbal argument which escalated to a physical altercation.  As Young broke free and ran off-- the driver of the mustang fired multiple shots from a handgun, hitting young in the lower left leg near the ankle says investigators.

When police arrived at the scene, they found nothing.

Young was taken to the hospital and Phoebe called police saying they had a patient with a gunshot wound.
