Darrell Lewis presents a case to the Albany City Commission about a high water table for the Story Road Subdivision

ALBANY, GA --
Darrell Lewis presented an issue at the Albany City Commission Tuesday morning concerning the Story Road subdivision off of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
Lewis, a resident of the neighborhood, says the development has a high water table which causes many expensive issues and the residents should have been notified of a possible issue this could cause.
"We came in not because of the floors rotting, so much, but because of the pre-existing condition and the city's failure to disclose that information to the homeowners," said Lewis.
Lewis says residents knew the area was a flood zone but that it is different from the issue at hand - which is too expensive to keep up with and restricts the owners from selling.
The Commission will review the case and decide on what plan of action to take, whether it is installing draining mechanisms, elevating the land or leaving the repairs to the residents.
