The Lee County Sheriff's Office announced the new route for Lance Corporal Steven Sutton's funeral procession set to take place tomorrow afternoon.

Sutton will be transported from the Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Home at noon down North Slappey to Route 19, past the Leesburg courthouse and into the back parking lot of the First Baptist Church.

During this time, Route 32 east from Lover's Lane to the railroad tracks in Leesburg will be closed -but alternate routes will be provided.

"Local traffic will be available to go through to get to their homes, the local businesses that are in the area, but we do ask that traffic be held to a minimum in honor of the fallen hero," said Lee County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy, Lewis Harris.

The Sheriff's Office asks that anyone planning to stand on side of the roads to pay their respects be careful when near the highway and keep a close eye on any children present.

Supporters should start lining the roadside from McDonald's in Leesburg south to Albany and that people are encouraged to come out and support the family along the funeral route.

Once the funeral is over, the procession will take Route 19 down to Slappey, then turn on 3^rd Street to get to Dawson Road where they will enter the front entrance of Crown Hill Cemetery for Sutton’s burial.

Lance Corporal Steve Sutton was killed during combat operations in the Helmand Province of Afghanistan. The 2nd Marine Division Public Affairs Office is reporting that Sutton was a mortarman assigned to the 1st battalion, 8th Marine Regiment of the 2nd Marine Division. Sutton had been in the service since 2009 and was promoted to Lance Corporal in October of 2010.
