ALBANY, GA --

The 2012 Mercosur Professional Development in International Business (PDIB) program explores how Brazil, Argentina, and Chile are responding to the global recession. Albany State University business professor Dr. Kathaleena Edward Monds is among a select group of faculty from across the country participating in a 10-day program through the Center for International Business and Education. The group will research how policy changes stimulated business creation in the international economies of three South American countries, and how changes in the U.S. affect bilateral relations and the regional trading alliance. Participants are exposed to the social, political, economic, and business environments that presently exist in the regions.

“We will work to obtain a better understanding of the instructional, technological, logistical and entrepreneurial programs relevant to each country and the role technology plays in the development of small businesses, especially those among women and youth,” said Monds.

The former Fulbright scholar has international teaching experience at the University of Malaya in Kuala, Lumpur and in Belize, Central America, where she taught young adults how to use computers. At ASU, she works with the Undergraduate International Studies and Foreign Language Program, assists in planning International Education Week, and hosted Brazilian Fulbright agricultural economist Dr. Aercio Do Santos Cunha.

For information about the PDIP program, please contact the ASU Office of University Communications at (229)430-4671.
