ALBANY,GA --
To help slim down the budget, the Dougherty County Finance Committee is proposing cutting down the amount they contribute to the Economic Development Commission.

The cut would equal one percent of the current contribution, or $2,500.

County Finance Chair Lamar Hudgins says they shouldn't cut too much, since the function of the EDC helps bring in revenue for everyone.

“When you close your sales department down, definitely a business is in bad trouble and the county has a lot of money invested, you know, SPLOST funds developing a new industrial park,” says Hudgins.

Any changes in the budget will be approved at the next county meeting next Monday.
