ALBANY,GA --
Dougherty County Chairman Jeff Sinyard hopes to make the next fiscal year easier on county employees by trying to reduce three furlough days down to zero.

Sinyard has asked staff to look into the possibility of moving $270,000 in SPLOST funds into the Capital Projects fund.

That would free up enough money to do away with unpaid holidays altogether.

“It would meet our budget requirements, it would not be a harm to taxpayers and I think it would set a better tone for folks that have had a very unusual, very trying experience over the last four to five years,” says Sinyard.

They will know more about that possibility at next Monday’s meeting.
