Small businesses learn about tech scams at luncheon

ALBANY, GA -- The Albany-area Chamber of Commerce presented a luncheon Wednesday afternoon on how to prevent corporate identity theft.

Wednesday's presentation is the third installment of a week's worth of topics to honor the national Small Business Appreciation Week. The week is currently being celebrated and will educate those on different fraud scams that are harming business.

"We talk a little bit about the different scenarios that are out there, different stories that are happening in the marketplace and just try to educate the audience of what is going on in the marketplace" said Sonovis Financial Director of Treasury Management Catherine Cantey.

Cantey says businesses run the risk of ruining their reputation and losing a lot of money if they're involved in a fraudulent transaction.

To protect against this worst-case scenario, Cantey closed the meeting by telling the room about different products and tools provided by banks to protect businesses from fraud.
