ALBANY, GA. --
Now that the state of Georgia has been waived from the 'No Child Left Behind Act,' schools across the state are done with AYP scores, but that doesn't mean schools won't be monitored.
On Thursday, the state's superintendent's office sent out a list of schools that are under alert.
Worth County Elementary School is ranked as a ‘Subgroup Alert School.’
This means it's identified as an elementary school with the need to raise student achievement in a certain level.
“It's certainly saying that there is a significant issue in that particular area but it's not saying that you have a problem school wide. There could be, but being an alert school by definition does not mean that your entire school has a problem,” says Matt Cardoza, Georgia Department of Education Director of Communications.
A school is placed on the alert list if they are three points from the state's average in a certain area.
