Opening a downtown business could be in your future, if you pay the right price

ALBANY, GA --
In our Facebook Story of the Day you wanted to know what the costs associated with starting a business downtown are. Fox 31 met up with Albany downtown manager Aaron Blair Thursday afternoon to find out.
Blair says renting a storefront on one of the popular roads downtown can range from $500 to $2,000 a month, $1,000 being the average, but the vacancies on busy streets like Broad and Washington are quickly filling up.
Downtown rentals require an 18-month contract, which may seem like a big commitment, but Blair says the town offers a program to help new business cut costs.
"We do have a downtown incubator program downtown that does help reduce the cost of your rent for 18 months, usually that's the incubation period for a business. We do have that downtown and that does set us apart from the rest of the city.”
