The Dougherty County Grand Jury met recently to make suggestions to public officials on behalf of the public.  Numerous recommendations were made focusing on issues that have been in the news recently. 

Recommendations include a review and revision of oaths for all city, county, and school board officials to remove loop holes, an independent audit of free and reduced lunch applications, and that no one with a criminal background or anyone who owes back taxes be allowed to hold an elected seat. 

Dougherty County District Attorney Greg Edwards says the 18 recommendations are passed along once agreed upon.  “The recommendations are sent to each elected official, each appointed official, and they hopefully are at least persuasive and informative of what the people feel about what the people feel should be done in terms of the laws and policies of the community.
