ALBANY, GA. --
A teen is in critical condition after taking his parents car for a joyride and crashing in Worth County.

Jalen McGill, 18, snuck out of his parents’ home and took their BMW for a drive to see his girlfriend early Thursday morning.

While traveling towards Norman Park, he lost control of the vehicle, flipping it before coming to a stop in a ditch.

The teen was found in a nearby field after being ejected from the car.

Georgia State Trooper Jeff Hobby says McGill suffered a broken leg, possible broken back, and a serious head injury.

The teen is now in the Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

Officials attribute texting while driving, alcohol consumption and marijuana use to the accident.
