ALBANY,GA --
The city may be considering other locations for the future multi modal transit station than the land on Roosevelt and Flint Avenue.

Archeological crews are looking into the proposed site, but meanwhile the city may consider other locations including the current site of the old Carmike movie theater.

The problem would be that if they changed the proposed site, they may lose $3 million in federal money from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

“We've got a September 2013 deadline that's already pressing us, and to move to another site or to even consider another site is probably an eight to twelve month process,” says Assistant City Manager Wes Smith.

Throughout all of this, advocates for the current transit station on Oglethorpe Boulevard say their site is viable, saying that space and parking is no longer an issue.

The city will continue discussions.
