ALBANY, GA. --
In July voters are expected to go to the polls to vote on the TSPLOST  or Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax.

Before they can vote on the issue, it has to be placed on the ballot.

Thursday the Albany-Dougherty County Board of Elections held a special called meeting for the one cent transportation tax.

The tax is expected to bring in millions and go directly toward improving Georgia’s transportation system and network over the span of ten years.

“We're simply approving for this special tax option to be placed on the ballot to be voted on up or down by the citizens of Dougherty County,” says Alan Pendleton, Albany-Dougherty County Board of Elections Chairman.

The primary election is set for July 31st.
