A decision on the Riggins case expected soon

ALBANY, GA -- This afternoon a grand jury reached a decision on Dougherty County School Board member Velvet Riggins.

Riggins is accused of falsifying documents to get free school lunches.

Joe Mulholland ,a Southwest Georgia District Attorney, was put on the case because Dougherty County District Attorney Greg Edwards knew Riggins personally.

Riggins' attorney says they weren't able to present their case for the following reasons.

Attorney Mark Brimberry, "Malpractice, Malfeasance and Misfeasance and its only when a grand jury decides to purpose any one of those three charges are we allowed to go before the grand jury.


A decision is expected Thursday morning.
