ALBANY, GA -- A domestic dispute in Lowndes County leads to one arrest when marijuana is discovered.
According to authorities, on Wednesday, April 25th, Lowndes County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a 911 call at 4406 Johnson Road South regarding a domestic dispute in which gun shots had been reported. Upon the arrival of deputies they discovered that 38-year-old Israel Mitchell and his spouse had been involved in a verbal dispute when Mitchell fired at least one shot from a firearm. The female, who was in the yard when the event occurred, fled to a neighbor’s home where she awaited the deputies.
Authorities say that once the deputies arrived, Mitchell was detained and a search of the property was conducted. This search resulted in the recovery of a .22 caliber rifle, which was loaded, and approximately two pounds of marijuana that was concealed in a cooler.
Israel Mitchell was transported to the Lowndes County Jail where he was booked on charges of terroristic threats and possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, both of which are a felony. The marijuana has a street value of approximately four thousand dollars {$4,000.00}. Mitchell will appear in the Lowndes County Magistrate Court on Thursday for an arraignment hearing where a bond will be considered.
