Whether it's a cup of joe to wake up in the morning or a soda to get past that afternoon slump, caffeine can give a boost of energy but it needs to be done in moderation
“We have to realize that caffeine is still a drug and we can become addicted to it,” said Kris Morrill, fitness coach. “We can develop a tolerance so therefore you'll have to take in more and more caffeine just to get the same results that you desire as if when you first started.”
A typical cup of coffee has 80 to 100 milligrams of caffeine but energy drinks and energy shots can have more than one thousand milligrams of caffeine.
“Anything over 500 milligrams a day is probably getting to the point where we don't need to take in that much,” said Morrill.
Tea is higher in antioxidants, which your body needs but still contains caffeine which dehydrates you.
Remember to get a full night’s sleep, eat properly and drink plenty of water and caffeine will not be needed as much.
