They say you're as young as you feel but young or old you should be staying active.  That doesn't mean you have to pump iron at every age.

Work out at every age

“You've got balance, coordination, quickness.  You've got all kinds of other aspects of fitness that we can look at and improve on without really adding the component of heavy weights,” said Kris Morrill, fitness coach.

It doesn't matter how early kids start working out as long as they are under supervision and ready Morrill added.  It has to do with maturity, physical maturity of the child themselves.  Starting kids early will set them up for a healthy lifestyle.

“Teaching them about fitness, health, eating correctly that will carry them through all the way until they are in their 80’s when they can still keep those fitness habits a priority in their life,” said Morrill.

Staying active throughout a lifetime can also have major health benefits.

“Once you get above a certain age, you’re not going to gain a whole lot of lean muscle but you can keep what you do have and stay mobile, stay flexible,” said Morrill.
