The Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office needs the public's help finding the passenger of a vehicle that drove up a curb and nearly hit kids playing in the yard

ALBANY, GA --
Joshua Dean keeps his one year old, Joshua Dean Junior, close to him.

"I don't condone any kids playing by the street at all period. If they going to be outside by the street they should at least be with a parent, a guardian or an older child, older sibling," says Dean, who's lived on Station Crossing for one year.

He watches him even closer now after investigators say a 20 year old's car nearly hit kids playing in their yards. Police say Jamarious Wright, 20, led police on a minor chase last week after running a stop sign, according to Lt. Anita Allen with the Dougherty County Sheriff's Office. She says Wright and the car's passenger jumped out of the moving vehicle in the 300 block of Station Crossing.

"So the car actually went up a hill and it ran over two mailboxes and they did have children in the yard playing so it actually missed the children so thank God that was a blessing that it missed the children," says Allen. "Mr.. Wright actually had a probation violation warrant on him, so I guess that triggered him to run."

She says they did pick up Wright after finding his wallet that was left in the car and receiving a tip that he was in Lee County. The Dougherty County Sheriff's Office is actively looking for the passenger but does not have a description at this time. Anyone with information about the passenger in this accident is asked to contact the Dougherty County Sheriff's Office at (229) 431-2166.

"I don't like the fact that they came through here speeding, for one, and then all the kids out there playing and for you to just jump out like that, that's just very inhumane," says Dean. "It makes me feel better but knowing that another person is in jail for something that could have been avoided is kind of awkward I guess, but yes I really do feel safer that the did catch the guy."

Wright is charged with obstructing an officer, reckless driving, reckless conduct, criminal damage to property, stop sign violation and fleeing in attempting to elude a police officer.
