ALBANY,GA --
Is Lyme Disease an issue for southwest Georgians?

That's our Facebook story of the day.

The answer--yes and no.

The Dougherty County Health Department reports in 2009 there were two cases of Rocky Mountain Fever--a disease also carried by ticks.

There were also two cases of Lyme Disease in 2011.

Experts say folks, especially hunters, need to take precaution.

“Taking precaution such as wearing your shirt tail in if you're out in the woods, socks over your pants, things like that,” says District Environmental Health Director Dewayne Tanner.

Symptoms include a rash at the site, fever, vomiting and muscle aches.
