ALBANY, GA -- A community group met in the Albany Civil Rights Park to spark conversation on the Trayvon Martin case locally.

The People Clergy Community Involvement say its time for Albany, Dougherty County  and surrounding communities to be more involved with the national movement for Trayvon Martin.

Jeanette Plowden came to the park because lost her grandson in  April of 2009  to gun violence. She says when it comes to crime there shouldn't be any closed mouths.

People have to stop being afraid and scared they got to come and start speaking out of what's going on," Plowden.

Gary Mohamed with PCCI says "there is a serious movement that's going on that's dealing more with the principal of what's going down. You known with one man down and one man has a gun. I see it as impossible for an arresting officer to not say get on the ground let me get your gun, a man is down.

Mohammed says having principals is a must.

'It's all about the principals of civility, I might say. We must become Civil People and be accountable and responsible."

The PCCI says they are working on planning an event every quarter that will spread awareness in honor of Trayvon Martin.
