ALBANY,GA --
The website that carried data about the 1940 census crashed the first day it was made public!

The National Archives website received over 22 million hits in the first four hours.

Nurse Case Manager Charlene Grafton was speaking Saturday to the Southwest Georgia Genealogical Society at the Dougherty County Library.

She says everyone is in a rush these days to discover where they came.

“Your genes and your DNA, which is very popular right now. People in genealogy are looking for those answers,” says Grafton

The 1940 census is the first census data to be posted online by the U.S. government.

You can check out the data by visiting the National Archives website.
