COLQUITT COUNTY, GA --

A 25-year-old pled guilty to charges involved in August's bomb threat at the Colquitt County School System.

Xavier Sims, 25, from Doerun, faces a potential maximum penalty of up to ten years in federal prison, a $250,000 fine and up to three years of supervised release, according to Michael Moore, U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia.

On Aug. 23, 2011, they say Sims called the Colquitt County 911 Center and stated that he placed a bomb in an unnamed Colquitt County schools. In a press release, Moore says it was eventually determined that Sims never actually placed a bomb in a school building. That day all Colquitt County schools were evacuated for safety reasons after the bomb threat call came through.

“When people threaten the safety of others – especially our children – we will work with our state and local partners to do all we can to hold them accountable,” said U.S. Attorney Michael Moore.

Sentencing for Sims is scheduled for July 16.
