LEE CO., GA -- David Cheshire wants to be the next Lee Co. sheriff.

The former Lee County Sheriff's Lieutenant held a BBQ Saturday afternoon to raise support for his campaign.

If elected, he plans to lower the budget and start a drug prevention program but most importantly he wants to get the community more involved.

“It’s not an ‘I,’ it’s a ‘we’ and we’ve got to get the citizens involved.  We’ve got to get them interested.  I want them to be proud of their sheriff’s office,” said Cheshire.

Lee Co. residents will vote July 31st.
