A Leesburg man faces a five count indictment for tax evasion from 2005 through 2007, according to the U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia

LEESBURG, GA --  

Robert B. Sperrazza of Leesburg faces a five count indictment for tax evasion, according to Michael J. Moore, United States Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia.

Counts one through three allege that Sperrazza committed Tax Evasion for the tax years 2005 through 2007, in violation of Title 26 United States Code, Section 7201. 

Count four of the indictment alleges that in 2007, Sperrazza knowingly, for the purpose of evading the reporting requirements, structured and assisted in the structuring of 56 deposits totaling $494,270.72 at SB&T financial institution in Albany. Count five of the indictment alleges that in 2008, Sperrazza structured another 52 deposits totaling $430,171 at SB&T financial institution in Albany.

The indictment also alleges criminal forfeiture to the United States of America, pursuant to the provisions of Title 31, Section 5317.

The maximum possible penalties for counts one through three are five years imprisonment, $100,000 fine, one year supervised release and a mandatory assessment fine of $100 each. The maximum possible penalties for counts four and five with the enhanced penalty for aggravated cases are ten years imprisonment, maximum fine of $500,000, three years supervised release and a $100 mandatory assessment fine for each.

An indictment is only an accusation, and the accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty at trial.

The investigation was conducted by Special Agents of the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation Division.
