Local law enforcement in the city provided an opportunity for people to get educated in gun safety.
The Albany police Department says they want to make sure that people who own firearms are operating them responsibly.
The course the department offered taught people the legal aspects of when they can carry a weapon and safety procedures and how to actually shoot a gun weapon so it can be used effectively.
For some in the class it was reinforcement of safety precautions and for others this is the first time that they have used a firearm.
Leo Bowersox who participated said “people have to protect themselves and you need to have information and you need to go into it smarter than just go out buy a gun and just go pulling it out.
Bebe Watson got a gun after being followed in her car during the late night. She was too afraid to stop her car while being tailed because she had no way to protect herself.
“I was alone and I was feeling very frightened because I would speed up and it would speed up I would slow down, it would slow down and this went on for about 10 miles and by the time the ten miles was over I was petrified ,”Watson.
Bowersox says “with this project it's really been great no details have been left out.”
