ALBANY, GA. --
To make sure the population is equally represented in a jury pool, the Dougherty County Jury Commission is sending out surveys to update their records.

Those who receive the mailings are asked to answer questions ranging from race to residence.

Officials want to know whether people have moved or whether they've been convicted of any crimes.

“As of July the 1st 2012, a new jury management takes effect under a new law. So we have to go ahead and update our boxes now so that we can summon sufficient jurors to carry us through the rest of the year,” said Superior Court Judge Willie Lockett.

Due to printing delays, the deadline to return the surveys has been pushed back.

Lockett is asking everyone who receives a survey to fill it out and return it.
