ALBANY, GA --
Brian Beasley has been found guilty for what officials call a heinous crime. Superior Court Judge Willie Locked sentenced Beasley to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the 2011 shooting death of Robert Purvis, 19.

Since that fateful day in February of 2011 Angela Jenkins, the mother of Purvis, says life has been a nightmare.

“I have days where I can't breathe. I can't think. I've spent the last 13 months wondering why,” says Angela Jenkins.

During the sentencing hearing she wanted to know what caused Brian Beasley, 29, to kill her son.

The prosecution described the brutal shooting caught on surveillance video at the ‘Splash n Dash’ car wash on Mock Road. They described how Beasley shot Robert Purvis to the ground and fired another round once he was down.

Freddie Beasley, the grandmother of Brian Beasley, broke down while on stand. She couldn’t understand how something like this could happen.

“I've never known him to be aggressive towards anyone,” says Freddie Beasley, the grandmother who raised Brian Beasley.

As the sentence came down, the family of Purvis held their breath.

“He took my brother's life. He deserves it because there's no bringing him back,” said Stephanie Mudd, the sister of Robert Purvis.

Law enforcement officials are hoping that the fate of Beasley keeps others from following in his footsteps.

“If it can help prevent crime and you know that you will be incarcerated without ever being able to be free again I hope that it will be a deterrent,” says Dougherty County District Attorney Greg Edwards.

Beasley also has to serve time for robbery charges and an additional five year sentence for a gun charge.
