ALBANY, GA. --
Celebrated writer, Rebecca Walker, daughter of Pulitzer Prize author Alice Walker, was in Albany on Wednesday speaking to students.

The speaking engagement, which was held in the ACAD Auditorium, is a part of Albany State University's celebration of women's history month.

Walker read passages from her new book 'Black Cool: One Thousand Steams of Blackness'.

The book is about the way African culture is embedded in the aesthetics of black culture here in America and across the world.

“The book is broken down into different elements of cool. One of the most important ones I think is audacity. And Dream Hampton (an author within the book), writes about the importance of audacity in African American women and their ability to fight off any kind of oppression,” says Rebecca Walker, Author and Motivational Speaker.

Students, faculty, and staff in attendance say Walker was inspirational.
