ALBANY, GA --
After such a mild winter, will mosquitoes be such a pest this season?

That's what you wanted to know in the Facebook story of the day.

Donell Mathis with the Dougherty County Public Works says it never got cold enough to kill off as many of those flying pests as in years past.

However, there are other factors that can affect the mosquito population.

“The amount of mosquitoes we will see during our season will be determined on how much rain we get and another thing it will be determined on-how well we do inspections around the home as far as our cleanup is concerned,” says Mathis.

Just remember to clear out any standing water around the house or in the yard--this includes bird baths.
