ALBANY, GA --
At a Friday morning press conference, the Albany-Dougherty Drug Unit announced the arrest of three alleged cocaine manufacturers.

According to investigators, they arrested 39-year-old Shawn Michael Keith, 35-year-old Ladele Edward Barney, and 24-year-old Vanessa Rashaun Thomas around 3:30 PM Thursday afternoon after executing a search warrant on an East Hubert Avenue home. Upon entering the home, authorities had to taze Barney. The other residents were throwing drugs out of the home, but officers were able to recover.

Major Bill Berry of the Albany-Dougherty Drug Unit says "he was actually in the process of micro waving when we were walking in the door. These guys just finished up, they were fixing to dry it up. When they saw the officers they ran."

Authorities say they recovered a 9-millimeter handgun, $4710 in cash, and nine ounces of crack cocaine with a street value of over $33,000. Authorities also seized seven pit bulls from the property.

Thomas was charged with felony trafficking in cocaine, felony manufacturing cocaine, and possession of cocaine within 1000' of a school.

Barney was charged with trafficking in cocaine, felony manufacturing cocaine, possession of cocaine within 1000' of a school, abandonment of cocaine, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during commission of certain crimes, obstruction of a law enforcement officer, and tampering with evidence.

Keith was charged with trafficking in cocaine, felony manufacturing cocaine, possession of cocaine within 1000' of a school, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during commission of certain crimes, obstruction of a law enforcement officer, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, and probation violation.

Additional charges are still being investigated at this time.
