ALBANY, GA --
In our Facebook story of the day, you wanted to know how you can protect yourselves from Clostridium Difficile.

It's a bacteria infection that may cause symptoms that vary from diarrhea, to loss of appetite, to fever.

The Center for Disease Control says 94% of the cases are acquired from a medical care facility including hospitals, nursing homes and doctor's offices.

The bacteria can be picked up from contaminated surfaces like bed rails, bathroom fixtures or medical equipment.

Epidemiologist Jacqueline Jenkins says "doctors, nurses and other health care workers should wash their hands in alcohol based rub or soap with water before and after each patient."

The CDC says every year thousands of people are infected and the most at risk group are the elderly.
