Strive 2 Thrive, Stop the Violence and Deceased Daddy's Daughters brought the community together about common causes for 'Praise in the Park"

ALBANY, GA --
The Rock Roll and Run weekend festivities wrapped up Sunday afternoon with Praise in the Park, where nearly 300 people gathered throughout the day. The event discussed poverty and violence in the community.

Dougherty County District Attorney Greg Edwards kicked off the event with a speech about the link between poverty and crime, which visitors at the event called "passionate."

Strive 2 Thrive Director Ausha Jackson says the overall goal of the event was to bring the community together around a common cause.

"Bringing a time for families to come together, just enjoy one another, give praise to God and just bring awareness to these issues that plague our community," says Jackson.

Albany Mayor Dorothy Hubbard also issued a proclamation for Strive 2 Thrive and Stop the Violence, acknowledging their efforts.
