Out of all fifty states rated for happiness, Georgia ranked 28th.
Albany Marriage and Family Counselor Elaine Gurley said “of course I would have liked us to be at the top of the list.”
For the past four years Midwestern and Western States have come in with highest happiness indices.

3. Minnesota: 69.2
4. Utah: 69.0
5. Alaska: 69.0
6. Colorado: 68.4
7. Kansas: 68.4
8. Nebraska: 68.3
9. New Hampshire: 68.2
10. Montana: 68.0

On the 100 point scale the State of Georgia Ranked 66.3.
The poll looked at six factors including life evaluation, emotional health, physical health, basic access to healthcare and healthy behavior.
The Gallup surveyed over 300,000 people by phone throughout 2011.
“Happiness comes from setting goals and meeting them and feeling that you’re not stuck,” said Gurley.
Officials at Gallup say improving the United States well-being will be tough job because of the severe fiscal problems that are happening all over.
