According to the Huffington Post, the Federal Trade Commission is considering a Supreme Court challenge to the Phoebe Palmyra hospital merger.

During an interview with the Federal Trade Commission’s Chairman Jon Leibowitz, he stated that they’re concerned about how the Phoebe merger could affect healthcare costs.  When referencing Phoebe during the interview Leibowitz said “If this hospital merger is allowed to go through, it’s going to give a blueprint for how to design the most anti-competitive outcome that will raise health care costs for every consumer in rural areas and small cities, and that will be a huge problem for all of us.”
