ALBANY, GA --
In our Facebook story of the day, you wanted to know what precautions have been taken around Albany to try to prevent future flooding.

Since the floods of 1994 and 1998, the Albany and Dougherty County Planning and Development Service have put ordnances in place to protect local structures.

A Flood Review Board was also created.  The board's goal is to make sure properties in the area are flood proof.

"The City of Albany also participates in the National Flood Insurance Program and the community rating system." said Mary Teter, the Interim Director Planning and Development Service for Albany and Dougherty County.

The Green Space in Committee in Dougherty County does what it can to prevent flooding by keeping a close eye on properties within the Flint River corridor.
