From a Phoebe Sumter Press Release:
Did you know that heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States? In recognition of Heart Awareness Month, Phoebe Sumter is joining forces with the Sumter County Sheriff Department and Sumter County Probation Officers in the 1st Annual Healthy Heart Charity Basketball Game.
The game will match the Phoebe Sumter All-Stars against the Sumter County Sheriff/Probation Officers All-Stars and will be played on Tuesday, February 28th at 7 pm at the South Georgia Technical College Gymnasium (aka the Hangar).
"We all have been touched in one way or another by heart disease, and in recognition of Heart Awareness Month we wanted to bring awareness to this deadly disease," said Marcus Johnson, Marketing & PR Director at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. "We encourage everyone to come out and have a good time, but to also become more aware of your heart and the ways you can keep it healthy."
In addition to the game, there will be free blood pressure checks for all those who attend and door prizes as well. The cost is $2 for adults and $1 for children, and all proceeds will go to the local Heart Association.
