LEE COUNTY, GEORGIA -- One hundred and fifty motorcyclists participated in a benefit bike ride for law enforcers that have fallen ill.

Sergeant Mike Sangster of the Crisp County Sherriff's Department is going through his second battle with cancer.

Riders stopped at the Lee County Sherriff's Office Saturday to raise funds to help cover the cost of the Sergeant’s chemo treatment, which is over one thousand dollars a month.

Lee County officials prepared food and drinks while their riders took a break at the office before they made their next trip to Tifton.

A bird house built by inmates in the Lee County prison was auctioned off, with the proceeds donated to the Sergeant.

"It means a lot because he means so much to the community. As far as the law enforcement community, he went to different agencies and taught classes and not just an instructor but he has become a friend to you," said Lee County Sherriff Reggie Rachals.
