ALBANY, GA -- The Phoebe Community Benefits Committee met Monday to discuss new regulations put on them by the Internal Revenue Service.

The IRS now mandates all tax exempt hospitals to perform a health needs assessment every three years to target the health needs in the area.

The committee will be spending the next year and a half creating a plan for that assessment.

“We'll do that in the next several months, we'll be pulling in data and looking at the health status and the health needs of the community and then we'll have a collaborative process across the community to bring in that data and what the needs are,” says Jackie Ryan, VP Strategy at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

Once data is collected, they will determine how to best address those needs in the area, all in hopes of creating a better health status for all in southwest Georgia.
