ALBANY, GA -- Domestic abuse survivors were honored Saturday night at Albany State University.

It was "A Night to Remember" as choirs sang, women danced and poets spouted words of encouragement.

Speaker Pauline Mansfield, a survivor herself, says it took her several years to realize she was in an abusive relationship.

“And I know personally people who didn't get out and they're no longer here. So it's my plea to people to recognize the strength in themselves,” says Mansfield.

The event was sponsored by Haven of Hope.
